Post remediation testing — also called post remediation verification (PRV) or mold clearance testing — is an independent verification process performed after professional mold removal. It confirms that indoor conditions have returned to acceptable levels before the space is reoccupied or closed back up.
Testing involves collecting air and surface samples that are analyzed by an independent laboratory. The goal is confirming indoor mold levels are equal to or below outdoor baseline levels — not proving "zero mold," which is neither possible nor the standard.
Dri-Max includes a complimentary clearance test with all remediation work. We also perform independent post-remediation testing for work completed by other companies.
Schedule Testing
Testing should occur after all remediation work is finished, ideally 24 to 48 hours after remediation stops and before containment is removed or reconstruction begins.
A thorough visual inspection of all remediated areas to confirm visible mold has been properly removed and no new moisture issues are present.
Indoor air samples are collected from remediated areas and compared against outdoor baseline samples. Surface samples may also be taken from treated materials.
Samples are sent to an accredited, independent laboratory. Results are typically available within a few business days.
A formal clearance report is issued confirming the remediated area has passed and is safe for occupancy and reconstruction.
Mold spores are microscopic. Even after visible mold is removed, airborne spores may still be present at elevated levels and require confirmation testing.
